Our Story

The Dominguez family comes from the town of Cuernavaca in the state of Morelos, just 45 miles south of Mexico City.

Bringing with them their love of food and family, Elias Dominguez and his family openened the Dominguez Family Restaurant in Minneapolis in 2006.

The state of Morelos, from which the Dominguez family hails, is famous for being the birthplace of Emiliano Zapata, a revolutionary hero who led the native people of Morelos to fight for the right to own their land.

Quite different from Minneapolis with its changing seasons, Cuernavaca is known as the "City of Eternal Spring" because its climate is so consistent. Temperatures hover around 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) year-round.
